We focus on very local ideas in our Social Studies class sessions. One thing ALL students can work on is learning and memorizing their Phone Number and Addresses. It would even be beneficial for them to know cell phone numbers.
We have talked about maps and different landforms. When driving around, point things out like rivers, lakes, ponds, fields, forests, highways, etc. The more they see and hear it the better their understanding will be when they are older. One thing they really enjoyed in class was visiting Google Maps. We were able to find homes and other places we know very well. Click on the link below to visit Google Maps.
